About

Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, Buddy began playing bass at the age of 12.  “At that time, everybody was playing songs by Slave, Earth, Wind and Fire, Cameo and Kool and the Gang. I wasn’t any different though i had a ton of great local bassist to listen to and serve as a great source of inspiration and influence. Guys like Gary Grainger, Rodney “Skeet” Curtis, Stanley Tune and the late, great Vince Loving. These guys had enough going on for any young aspiring bassist to listen to... Then one day i heard Stanley Clark’s “School Days.” From that point, I knew I wanted to play jazz and that’s what I did.” Following in the foot steps of so many successfull area musicians before him, Buddy attended Baltimore’s Frederick Douglass High School where was a part of the “Music Careers” Program. Here, He took his love for jazz to new heights. Being introduced to the likes of Miles Davis, Charlie Parker, John Coltrane as well as RTF, Weather Report and Herbie Hancock.

In 1987, Buddy moved to Los Angeles where he began playing with Miles Davis’ keyboardist Adam Holzman’s band called “The Bugs”.
